# Starting out

After you have created a character there are a few steps that we'd like to recommend. You start with 7000 Dollars. Earning money is difficult so setting your self up for success is important!

### Get a bank account

Visit any bank (look for the $ symbol on the map) To open your bank account and set a pin code. You'll then be able to access ATM's and deposit/remove money.

### Buy a Phone

Player to Player communication at distance can only be done within roleplay through a phone. It's important to stay on top of the events that are happening in the city. City life moves fast so be sure to check and participate in the phone twitter app. Get a phone from a Digital Den or iFruit store.

### Get your Driving License.

This is optional, but will keep you from incurring fines from Half Life State Police

### Buy a Car from a Dealership.

Getting around the city to take Jobs and make contacts will be a lot quicker with a vehicle.

### Get a Job

Head to the Job Center at City Hall to get yourself a starting job. Or make friends in the city and see if anyone is willing to pay you to do work for them!

### Get an Apartment 

{% hint style="info" %}
Since you've moved into a new city you're going to need somewhere to start living! After you've made some money you can rent an apartment at Del Perro Suits. This'll give you somewhere free to store your car, as well as somewhere to store any goods you've collected, safe from opportunistic thieves.
